Does any of this sound like you?

You feel like life has been full of hurt and disappointment.     Because of this, you try to protect yourself from being hurt again.  Maybe you keep yourself at a distance from others because you worry they will just leave or hurt you like everyone else.  Maybe you "play it safe" and don't seek out new opportunities because it is easier to not take risks…that seems a whole lot safer than to risk failing and feeling as if you disappointed yourself or others.

You consider yourself to be a perfectionist or an overachiever.  Coming in second place is never good enough.  Being the best is the only option and anything falling short of that leads to you feeling ashamed.  You may be exhausted by working non-stop and taking on extra tasks, or on the contrary, you may struggle with procrastination.   All you know is that despite all of the tireless attempts to prove you are worthy, successful and capable, you continue to feel "less than".

You are the "therapist" friend. You are the one that people turn to when they need someone to listen or when they need advice.  You are a very reliable friend and don't want to let others down by not being there for them exactly when they need you.  You don't want to be a burden to others by sharing your own struggles and find yourself putting other people first. You are left feeling resentful, unimportant and lonely due to not getting your needs met.

You feel like no one truly understands you.    Life feels really lonely--it's hard to be yourself around others. You often keep your feelings to yourself and don't want others to know about the ways in which you REALLY struggle. It feels like a weakness to show vulnerability, so you try to maintain a façade that you've got it all together, but in all honesty, you feel like you are falling apart on the inside.

If any of this resonates with you...          you are in the right place!

Healing is Possible.

You don't have to continue living this way.

What if there is a way to find relief from your suffering, so you no longer have to merely survive within the confines of your pain, and can instead live a life that is authentically YOU?

Regain a sense of calm and connection within yourself and in your relationships

AmyBednarskiPicture

Hi, I'm Amy and I can help.

I am a compassionate, open-minded, and patient therapist with 20 years of experience helping people who have struggled with anxiety, painful memories from the past, and who feel exhausted in life. I truly believe that everyone has the capacity to heal no matter how deep the wounds may be.   I can walk alongside you and guide you in finding your way through the challenges of life, to a place of inner peace.

How I Can Help

Trauma and PTSD Therapy

Living with the effects of trauma may show up as feeling overwhelmed by intrusive thoughts, emotions and memories, or feeling disconnected from yourself and others. You may also experience disrupted sleep, constantly feeling "on guard", and intense feelings of shame, guilt or helplessness.

Therapy can help you get your life back on track so you can regain a sense of safety, manage your emotions, improve your relationships with others, and feel at peace with yourself.

Anxiety Therapy

Struggling with anxiety can be mentally and physically exhausting. Anxiety can show up as difficulty relaxing, excessive worry, overthinking, insomnia, and feeling paralyzed by fear. It may also limit you from doing things you want to do, due to an intense fear of rejection or criticism, or fear that something bad will happen.

Therapy can help you feel more in control of your emotions and your life, so you can regain confidence and show up for the things you want to do in life.

EMDR

EMDR therapy is utilized to assist individuals with processing overwhelming life experiences in order to relieve distressing symptoms and regain a positive sense of self.  EMDR is effective in treating trauma, anxiety, low self-esteem, and many other mental health symptoms. If you are looking to heal on a deeper level and address the root of your problem rather than just focusing on how to manage your symptoms, EMDR can help.
